What Wine goes with Pizza?
The last few turns of the season from last weekend, how different is a corner during a 500m, from a corner during a 10k

It seems so long ago that I was racing, this is more what I am looking at right now.
The off-season is a wonderful thing!
The correct question for an ice speedskater to be asking, this time of year, is “what wine goes best with extra-meat pizza???”
I raise my glass & triangular slice to all skaters who are taking well-deserved, hedonistic breaks from hard training! Hard-core training also means hard core rest..
Mid March through April is the time to rest!
You need to heal, in body & soul (and ankles/feet too, I am still in a lot of pain from my injury).
I knew MANY bike racers over the years, who tried to train super-hard year round, and they ended up injured, sick, burned out, and sometimes all 3.
Of course one should never eat the whole pizza, nor drink the whole bottle of wine (Jessica helped with both), nor have this be your daily diet.
As long as I am toasting all my fellow fried friends of the blade, I also raise my glass to all my inline buddies who are jonesing for the warm weather & inspired outdoor rolling.
For so many years of my life, “skating” was endless hours of bike path crusing; wearing low cut viking skates, 76mm wheels, & tank tops on hot Colorado summer days..
As soon as I finish a few more pizzas washed down with wine, I am looking forward to that again.
(really, I am not turning into a lush, I drink so rarely, it was worth a picture!)

Congrats on your season…and much rest is definitely needed! I myself had wine and pizza last night! I just bought a bottle of Red Truck and Coppola Cabernet…I’ll let you know how they are!!
Ahh…a few precious weeks of wine/beer in my glass and yummy yummy food on my table…I’m addicted to the food network right now! Love that Paula Deen!! Haha!

as usual, you miss NOTHING… actually, in the first pictures I shot of this tableau, the “Uncork New York” logo completely absorbed the viewers attention away from the pizza & wine…
so I turned the glass so it was almost invisible! but you saw it anyway..
(for those in the outside world, upstate NY has some FANTASTIC wineries, and these glasses are part of an effort to promote them)
The best wine with Pizza is beer.
And hell yeah you can eat the whole pizza and drink the whole bottle. At least you can when you’re still skating…
