Another installment in my series where you get to write the captions for pictures that are just begging to be described—

The first two images are by Tom Dinardo, recently taken in Whistler, the next two by me—

  1. haha this looks like fun!
    1) The winners of “Dodge the Pillars”
    2) “Darn, I really need to use the bathroom. Ooh! I think I see one”
    3) I see the light!
    4) “Uh-oh! It looks like Andrew Love is gonna beat my time!!”

  2. 1. Wow! That strikingly reminds me of how I was rollerblade racing “short track” in the basement and sustained my first concussion after stepping on a block and doing a header into one of the support poles…
    2. “I want to fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me..”
    3. Chilly.
    4. Isn’t it fun having all eyes on you skating?

  3. 1) See! It’s true!!! Short track was one of the original Olympic Sports in Ancient Greece! Unfortunately, the fatal flaw was that they kept holding the competitions at the Parthenon, where the ice kept melting and those darned Doric columns were constantly getting in the way. Plus the goddess Athena got really peeved that the guys zipping around in those tight skinsuits through her temple had MUCH better bodies than she did…so she smited them until they lost an edge…and we’re back to those pesky columns again, because it took mankind thousands of years to come up with the brilliant idea of pads…

    2) mmmm, let me see if I can touch my nose to the tip of my skis….

    3) …something eerie this way comes…but only dogs can see it…

    4) Wow! I can’t believe we actually talked that guy into sticking his tongue to the ice, but a double dog dare is a double dog dare…

  4. oops! Busted! That’s an ionic column (in the posted picture), not doric for you architectural officionados… where is my memory these days?
I must have hit those columns too many times…

  5. Michelle,

is that an IONIC column or an IRONIC column?

and I think your #3 one is great, I did not know if people would spot the very subtle dog face in the lower right hand part of that shot..

  6. Andrew,

It’s only IRONIC that I’m an Interior Designer and I’m SUPPOSED to know my Ionic from my Doric columns…(bad designer, no treat for you… Hangs head in shame…)

But hey! I DID notice the dog! Do I get a treat for that? :-D *wags tail*

…ok, on second thought, given the current state of my ‘tail’, that’s a scary visual. And with that I’m taking my ‘tail’ to the gym…

  7. I was going to say that it’s dorky to expect yourself to know the difference between a doric and an ionic column, but then again it’s like me not knowing the difference between a St. Bernard and a Swiss mountain dog. Something like that.

  8. In speedskating terms, it’s like not knowing the difference between a short track skate and a long track skate…so I guess it’s all ‘relative’ to your area of supposed expertise. (but in my defense, I don’t have a lot of need to design Romanesque architecture in the mountains. Somehow it just doesn’t work with the pinescones and bears motifs…LOL)

And I DON’T know the difference between a St Bernard and a Swiss mountain dog. Is there one??? LOL
