Eric Flaim Quote
The truly great athletes aren’t just exceptional performers but also exceptionally positive. They make no excuses, take the blame when results don’t meet expectations and congratulate their teammates on every shining performance. Picking a role model (or picking the correct attributes to model) requires some discernment. Many of today’s sports superstars have displayed questionable motives with morally inept conduct. Working towards a goal means more than winning at all costs, it means keeping to the higher ideals and values as well. Growing up, I tried to pattern myself after the good guys … the great athletes with strong will. I found that whenever I thought of myself as being like them, my races would turn out well. If instead, I spent time worrying about my shortcomings, my performances suffered. I realized that a positive attitude matched with careful preparation and dedication worked best every time.

Very nice!!!
Very nicely put Eric. It seems like a lifetime ago that we rode the bus at Silver Lake for JV soccer games. I remember that you & I talked about Mr. Johnson pressing upon you to decide soccer or speed skating. I think you made the right choice. Now with 6 children of my own, they asked me if I knew anyone that had been on the news. I thought of you. I try and stress upon them a positive attitude, dedication to a commitment and to always be as prepared as possible, no matter what it is you do in your life. Congratulations and continued success.
