Olu times 3, music video

I shot a video of Olu playing the National anthem, and had the idea of blending some of the videos I shot with his playing.

As I was working on this late last night, I looped Olu’s playing 3 times, so really you are hearing 3 Olu’s playing over the top of each other in unique harmonies. Some folks get offended when they hear the national anthem played in semi-arty ways, but as I look at the dedication of these Olympic hopefuls & the challenges they face, somehow lonely, atonal, patriotic music oddly fits.

Here it is in an easily accessible flash video. If you want to see a much nicer high quality Quicktime version, Click here.

The skaters pictured in this video are

Danny Frederick (fastest man in the world with 3+ kids)
Paul Dyrud
Matt Plummer
Liam Ortega (in white)
Jessica Smith
Nate Defranco (in red)
Mia Manganello’s feet
Catherine Raney
Mia Manganello
Anna Ringsred & Maria Lamb
Shani Davis & Chad Hedrick (in the last 500m of a crazy-fast 5k)

  1. VERY VERY nice, and BEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-u-tiful!!!!!

  2. So that really is THE Danny Frederick in the results? Good for him. Now I have to go have another kid. And get in a little bit of shape…

    …Nah…never mind.

  3. Andrew, that was great video. Wish I was there. Tell Olu he’s gotten soooo much better in the last 5 years at the Anthem. God speed…i’m getting the skating muscles back here at the oval. Had some technique issues and blade problems….Leif is helping lots. Can’t wait to skate old man All Round Worlds in Feb. Is Olu going?

  4. Very cool, but the 3 looped Olu drove one my labs nuts!

  5. Yes, the music is unique & odd the way I looped it.. I can see how a dog would freak.. sorry….. I played it many times for skaters at the oval today before I posted it, and they all seemed to like it..

    however, I failed to properly “lab test” it… ; ) my bad…

(there is a cat in the house I am staying in, so the music has been “cat scanned”)
